Figures released by the Department for Health and Social care reveal the number of Covid-19 casualties across the UK continues to rise as Britain grapples with the crisis.
The UK’s coronavirus death toll has risen by 708 to 4,313 – the highest number since the outbreak of the pandemic.
The tragic figure was released this afternoon by the Department for Health and Social care.
Yesterday there were 3,605 confirmed deaths linked to the killer bug, which has claimed more than 50,000 lives worldwide.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the UK is now 41,903.
Figures reveal that less than 10,000 tests were carried out between yesterday morning and today.
A total of 9,406 new people were reported as being tested in the 24 hours to 9am today.
For the previous two days, the equivalent figure was above 10,000.
